LOW BACK PAIN

Abstract

Low back main is used to define pain in the low back which does not go away on cessation of the activity. and which may be totally disabling.
A study of the biornechanics of low back requires development of knowledge in four area, such as the mechanical properties of the tissues. the mechanical properties of substructures. motion between substructures, and functional loading of structures. The variable character of low back pain, its multiplicity of causes, and the difficulties in its treatment, render this affection one of the most perplexing problem that confront an orthopedic surgeon. Many individual habitually assume, at work or otherwise. positions of great mechanical disability, and sooner or later under the stress and strain the body tissue rebel and back results. The majority of cases of low back pain causes by mechanical strain. Less than 2% of low back pain in female comes from the pelvic organ. It is from pelvic region, it is always worse during the menses. It is essential to have a comprehensive method of investigation in dealing with the cases of low back pain. The diagnosis and treatment must be based upon a careful evaluation of the clinical and roentgen logical findings in light of available information on the various recognized types of low back lesions. Conservative treatment of ambulatory or recumbent type is indicated in the majority of cases. however, surgical treatment is to be preferred in certain selected cases.
